Italian Dry Chestnuts from Tuscany
Giannetti Artisans’ Italian Dry Chestnuts from Tuscany are a delightful treat. The Apuane Alps, located just outside Lucca, Italy, are home to our exceptional stone oven-dried chestnutsāa true Tuscan specialty! We take great care in selecting our chestnuts. They are dried in a “metato” (a covered roasting chamber) for 40 days at a consistent temperature of 86°F using a wood-burning fire. See what a metato is: https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metato .Ā
This lengthy drying process removes all the moisture from the chestnuts, leaving you with a delicious, sweet, and unforgettable smoky flavor. Once dried, we hand-select and hand-pack the chestnuts to ensure the best quality nut. Itās important to note that our dry chestnuts do not contain any preservativesāGiannetti Artisans’ Dry Chestnuts are a truly all-natural product. However, please keep in mind that our chestnuts are seasonal, so they may not always be available throughout the year. Our chestnuts reflect the authenticity, origin, and freshness of an exclusive product, just like all Giannetti Artisans offerings!
You can use our Italian dry chestnuts for stuffing, in stews, or simply enjoy them as a snack; just boil them in milk or water AFTER soaking. This item captures the essence of Italian culture! Additionally, we offer Giannetti Artisans Chestnut Flour, made from the same delicious Dry Chestnuts from Tuscanyāavailable in a 1 lb bag: https://giannettiartisans.com/shop/artisan-food-of-tuscany/natural-italian-chestnut-flour/
