Our Italian Pistachio Spread is one of the most sought-after products in the traditional pastry industry in Sicily. Our producer has made this specialty item a key focus during production. The artisan uses it to fill and garnish Italian panettone cake, a classic tradition during the holiday season.
Giannetti Artisan’s Pistachio Spread originates from the fertile volcanic soil of Mount Etna. The pistachios used in our spread are grown in Bronte, a small town in the Catania province of Sicily, known as the Italian Pistachio capital.
Unlike American or Asian pistachios, Bronte’s pistachio kernels are typically a yellowish color. This unique characteristic has elevated the value of Bronte’s pistachios. Furthermore, their intense green color and delicate flavor have made them renowned as a symbol of Italian excellence. The pistachios from Bronte are harvested every two years towards the end of the year. Because they must last until the next harvest, Bronte pistachios are exclusive in both flavor and price.
The high-quality ingredients, particularly the Bronte pistachios—often referred to as the “Green Gold of Sicily”—have helped our Pistachio Spread earn first place at many international food shows. Absolutely delicious and addictive! You can definitely taste the higher content of pistachios vs other brands. It is very mildly sweet which, along with the olive oil used, seems to enhance the flavor of the pistachios. Other brands on the market list sugar as the first ingredient which results in a cloyingly sweet product and taste more like white chocolate with a hint of pistachio.. ABSOLUTELY LOVE this spread!!!
